A common question from new brands is how long does production actually take? Understanding a typical timeline helps you plan launches, marketing, and inventory.
Typical Apparel Production Stages
1. Design & Tech Pack Creation
This is when your idea becomes a detailed plan. Depending on complexity, this can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
2. Sampling & Fitting
Once the manufacturer has your tech pack, they create one or more samples for review. This usually takes 2–4 weeks, depending on revisions. During this phase you can physically inspect fit, fabric, construction, and finishes.
3. Fabric & Trim Sourcing
Finding the right fabrics, trims, and accessories can take 1–3 weeks, especially for custom materials or low MOQs.
4. Bulk Production
After samples are approved, bulk production begins. Depending on order size, complexity, and factory schedule, this commonly takes 3–8+ weeks.
5. Quality Control & Finishing
Once sewn, garments are inspected, finished, labeled, and packed. Expect 1–2 weeks for this stage.
6. Shipping & Delivery
